What inspired you to create an Agriculture Bio and EU Organic accredited range of edible oils?

Our inspirations often provide from our own experiences. During 15 years spent in the food-industry, I’ve seen what had become our food. It was not anymore natural and safe but highly treated and full of additives. In 50 years, “modern” food has become the leading cause of death worldwide! The global food-industry has sac-rificed our health on the altar of Profit!

It is unacceptable and, as a father, I clearly wanted another food model for my kids. I left large groups and founded Quintesens. 

The first market we’ve decided to investigate was edible oils. Simply because it is probably the most important ingredient for our health.
 Indeed all our cells consist of a membrane that protect them and determine their potential. This membrane is 100% made of fat. Thus, we are the fat we eat! 
And with the evolution of our food model, we are not anymore eating the right source of oils. We are all deficient in Essential Fatty Acids (mainly Omega-3 and DHA) and E-Vitamin.
And this market is so complicated that it became almost impossible for the consumers to make the best choice for their health. It is all the more true at certain stage of life where our nutritionals needs evolve.
But unfortunately, Pregnant women do not pay attention to their consumption of Fat; 80% of babies are deficient in good fat; Seniors are limited in E-Vitamine essential to slow aging and in DHA essential for the brain.
To allow people to make the best choice for their health, we decide to develop the first range of organic oils based on our specific nutritionals needs. 
Clearly, our range of edible oils is much more than organic as it is Heathy, custom and organic. 


What were the main challenges you faced in order to get your organic range started; and are you still facing these challenges today?

We had to face many challenges but our greatest challenge has been to fight the many received ideas of consumers. “Fat is bad for health”, “if I eat oil I’ll become obese”, “I don’t have to give fat to a baby”, “Olive oil is the best for my health, I don’t need to vary oils”…
For 50 years the food industry has placed wrong ideas in consumers brains… We’ve been manipulated. We have many a priori that we consider certainties. But these are just bad patterns imposed by the industry. It’s time to open our consciousness and demonstrate critical think-ing and common sense. 
As a young company to didn’t have the means to address all these a priori quickly. It has been a long and very interesting process. Consciousness are now evolving and our approach sounds more and more logical and relevant. 
There is a worldwide trend on healthy food… it becomes easier to address this challenge today. Consumers are looking for healthiest products.
 

What were the most memorable, defying moments during this time?

When you found your own company based on your convictions, when you go through challenges and difficulties and succeed… it becomes a sum of memorable moments.
However the most memorable one is probably the great award we got rom Health Professional on our Baby Organic Oil. This award was a strong recognition for our products. Whatever the difficulties, it proves us that we were in the right direction and gave us the energy to go further. 
Today our Baby oil is by far the best oil for babies. This is the only one able to cover all his nutritionals needs with only 1 spoon / meal. It’s a great feeling to be sure to do the best and to contribute to the development of babies worldwide. And our Baby oil is today a best-seller in France.


What helped you to see it through to the end?

We have found Quintesens to provide true healthy food to people, not to make profit. It was not a money issue. As long as we had the feeling of being on the right way, there was no reason to give up ! In 4 years time, our products have received more than 20 awards for their quality. Our company won a “remarkable company” award. We’re actually engaged in sustainable development.
All these recognitions gave us the will to continue !

What are your plans for the next 5 years?

Our plan is to continue to develop the best possible products to help people to remain healthy. We’ll go on each market where we can provide a real quality value and propose products that combine health, pleasure and organic! 
We also plan to invest more in communication to educate people about nutrition.  In 5 years’ time, we hope to have a wider range of products available across the world.
