What inspired you to create an EU Organic and USDA organic accredited range of coconut oils?
We had already been active in healthcare as well as spa product retail and wholesale business for a couple of years providing us with fairly deep market insight. Therefore, we had a pretty good understanding of promising market trends and customer wishes and considered already for quite some time launching our own brand for premium spa products. One day, we met then a truly inspiring Thai gentleman who introduced us to a special very gentle organic coconut oil processing method which creates amazing results in terms of quality. We have become fascinated by this exceptional product and all the health benefits attached to it ever since. This is when the idea for Sansi Organic Coconut Oil was born…and it turned out our strong believe in product quality has proven us right with more and more customers coming to us sharing our passion for quality and sustainability.
What were the main challenges you faced in order to get it launched; and are you still facing some of these challenges today?
In general a product launch can be challenging at times particularly if an entrepreneur is a newbie and a strict regulatory framework must be adhered to. In our case product launch was a no-brainer since we had been in this business already for quite some time and subsequently possessed a treasure trove of experience. The positive feedback from our existing customer base obviously also helped us to get things on the right track. Perhaps most importantly, we have been in the lucky position that our business is managed by a capable pharmacist who embodies and promotes our values of customer focus, product quality and business sustainability in a particularly impressive way.
In today´s market with so many brands and different kinds of coconut oils on offer, the main challenge might be to make people who have little or even no specific product knowledge understand and appreciate that there are huge differences in quality and not every coconut oil may be suitable for its intended use.
What were the most memorable, defying moments during this time?
Not sure about defying…but the most memorable moment probably was, shortly after we had shipped the first lot of Sansi Organic Coconut Oil to customers who were impatiently waiting for the delivery, when we received their enthusiastic response. No doubt, customers’ enjoyment of our products is always a great source of pride for us.
What helped you to see it through to the end?
Clearly, to see your “baby“ thriving and prospering while you move forward step by step from mar-ket research, over label design to product registration with the relevant government bodies is what fills you with joy and motivation.
What are your plans for the next 5 years?
We see Sansi becoming one of the leading organic coconut oil brands in Thailand. We have been growing significantly since product launch and are confident that we can gain further market share. It is important to remain motivated and set ambitious yet realistic targets.
